A Michigan Family with Over a Century of Trust.

Alex Joseph Danboise opened a plumbing and hardware shop at Grand River and Spokane in Detroit in 1925. He wasn’t thinking about a hundred-year legacy — he was thinking about showing up and doing the job right. That part hasn’t changed.

His son Hall took over in 1966. Hall’s daughter Carol came to work alongside her father after college, and eventually brought in a young plumber named Jack Gatewood — who she later married. When Hall passed away in 1978, Carol and Jack stepped in and kept going. Jack earned his Master Plumber’s license and Mechanical Contractor’s license. Together they grew the business and moved it from Detroit to Redford to Farmington Hills, turning a neighborhood shop into the full-service company it is today.

In 2017, Carol’s daughter Amy became the fourth-generation owner. The fifth generation of the family is already learning the trades. A hundred years in, and it’s still the same family — still showing up for Metro Detroit homeowners one job at a time.

Our technician, Steve Dobrick has done a lot of work for us, including a new hot water heater (which City inspector said was excellent).  He is experienced, helpful, and explains everything very well.  We have also had other technicians, both plumbing and electrical with AJ Danboise.  All first rate.  I completely trust this company and their entire staff. Happy to recommend them. Steve Dobrick installed water leak alarm on my water pipes. Gives peace of mind after having a recent flood. He is excellent plumber and very helpful 10/23/23 Plumber Cary came and fixed pipe in basement. This company has talented and wonderful staff. Each technician that comes is excellent! 3/13/24 Steve Dobrick came to our house again to perform a plumbing inspection.  He is so talented, experienced, and good at his job.  He is also a fine representative for Danboise. Very pleasant snd kind. 4/01/24 A. J. Danboise electrician, Maher Kasshamoon, came to do an electrical inspection for us today.  He is very pleasant, kind, and explained everything he did.  He showed pictures of all the areas he inspected, and carefully reviewed possible things that could help our home.  He seems extremely knowledgable and talented as an electrician.  He is going to replace smoke detectors that are too old, and possibly not working correctly.  We would absolutely recommend him, and believe he is another example of the excellent workers we have always had from Danboise. 7/16/24 John Harvey is the electrician who came out (along with an apprentice, Alex) today.  He is a master electrician, who is so knowledgable, personable, and kind.  He fixed my electrical problem, all the while explaining to his apprentice what he was doing. As always, for many years now, i highly recommend A J Danboise and am relieved and happy when they come to do any work for us. 8/11/25 Today one of their amazing electricians, Maher Kasshamoon, was here doing a full electrical inspection for my home. He is so skilled, kind, informative, and helpful. I highly recommend this company and Majer. You will be comforted by his expertise I am so happy each time Maher comes to fix something or check to be sure my electrical supply and outlets are safe. He is excellent. AJ Danboise hires the best technicians. I have never had a bad experience in all the years I have used this company 9/5/25 Plumber Jacob Ball installed new sump pump for us yesterday He is excellent plumber, kind, personable, and thoroughly explained all of our options. Highly recommend him and would not hesitate to ask him to do any plumbing job. Danboise is excellent company with superb staff and technicians 8/14/26 Today we had Harrisen and his assistant, Alex. Absolutely wonderful experience. Harrisen fixed my air conditioner and Alex did an entire house electrical inspection both are professional, friendly, and represent Danboise very well. I will Absolutely use them again. Love this company 9/28/26 We had Jeremy out to check furnace to be sure all working properly for fall and winter.
