Serving Farmington Hills with Quality Home Services Since 1925
AJ Danboise Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical is a family owned and operated business. Established in 1925 under the direction of Alex Joseph Danboise, our first shop was located in Detroit at Grand River and Spokane. At the time, it was a combination plumbing and hardware shop!
The company has grown and moved several times over the last nine decades to accommodate our customers and the changing needs of our business.
1966 – Hall Danboise took over his father’s company, carrying on the family name and the company’s reputation for quality. After graduating from college, Carol Danboise began working with her father, learning all aspects of the industry and business with the intention of one day carrying on the company. In 1972 Carol married co-worker and plumber, Jack Gatewood.
1975 – The shop moved to a larger building at 5 Mile and Beech Daly in Redford, allowing us to develop and expand our commercial services. Jack received his Master Plumber’s license in 1975, and his Mechanical Contractor’s License in 1978. After her father’s death in 1978, Carol and Jack took over the complete day-to-day running of this growing company.
1989 – AJ Danboise Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical had outgrown the facility in Redford and found a new home on 10 Mile and Orchard Lake in Farmington Hills. This larger facility allowed expansion and included electrical, sewer, and duct cleaning services, as well as plumbing, heating, and air conditioning.
1996 – We relocated to Grand River and Orchard Lake, also in Farmington Hills. That move tripled our office/warehousing space and allowed us to add a complete parts department to better serve our customers’ needs on demand.
2004 – To facilitate the growth of our individual departments, the commercial service division split from AJ Danboise Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical to become a totally separate mechanical contractor on January 1, 2004. Danboise Mechanical, Inc. services the mechanical needs of southeastern Michigan businesses.
2017 – Most recently, in March of 2017, the fourth generation of the Danboise family, Amy Gatewood Gendjar (daughter of Carol Danboise Gatewood) became the new owner of AJ Danboise Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical. It is rare these days to find a business that can stand the test of time over the course of a century, much less to maintain that company as a family business. We are very proud of that accomplishment and the heritage that lies within it.
AJ Danboise Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical‘s most recent move took place in July 2017, relocating to 23800 Industrial Park Drive, once again in Farmington Hills, Michigan. This move has allowed the company to capitalize on the close proximity of several suppliers, reduce overall costs, and eliminate unnecessary overhead, thus keeping costs in check for our customers.
AJ Danboise Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical has been, is today, and will always be a family-owned business. It is important to us that our employees feel like they are “one of the family,” and we promote that family culture to our customers. Even though the company continues to grow and change, a feeling of family will always be at the heart of AJ Danboise Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support; thank you!
